CSPAN lists a new survey of Presidential Rankings. I’m not sure I agree with Kennedy and Eisenhower’s high rankings. Clinton has gotten a big boost since 2000’s survey. Bush debuts in the lower ten.

I’m hearing a lot of trashing of the electoral college these days. Now, I come down on the democrats side most of the time but this is one area where we disagree.
We in computer science have an expression — when a solution to a problem is elegant. In affect, that means you will look at the solution, find it so brilliantly obvious and say “why didn’t I think of that?” The electoral college is elegant. I see the points against it but all I can say is take another look. The best analogy I’ve found is that the World Series is not given to the team that has the most runs, but the team who wins the best of 7 series.
Apparently “cockamamie” is having a comeback. I hear it all the time on political talk shows. Seems like a strange choice. “Foolish” was just not doing the job to describe Sarah Palin I guess. Burn.
