Cisco does have client for OS X, it does not give it away for free. (though, it can be obtained for free via a simple google search but you didn’t hear that from me.) In any case, I’d love not to be tied to its non-free client (and fugly UI). This eluded me until I found a couple of blog posts that combined enabled vpnc to be my new favorite program. My steps are:
- Using macports, install vpnc
- Convert your Cisco profiles with pcf2vpnc:
- wget http://svn.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/vpnc/trunk/pcf2vpnc
- sh ./pcf2vpnc cisco.pcf /opt/local/etc/vpnc/
- Connect!
- vpnc cisco
